Object Description

This extremely rare Elizabeth I silver Moors Head childs spoon was made in London in 1582 by Crescent enclosing a mullet and measures 5 inches in length, it has a fig shaped bowl that is well marked with the crowned leopards head and is hallmarked to the back of the stem with the makers mark, lion passant and the date letter, the Moors Head finial is worn but there is some definition, the spoon itself looks as though it has been buried at some time in it’s life but considering it’s age it is in good condition – spoons of this type are very rare nowadays and this is a lovely survivor of it’s age – a very early spoon weighing .55 ounces or 17 grams.
