This stunning, precious piece is a wonderful replica of an early 20th Century Faberge work which is now owned by the British Royal Family (RCIN 40502). Made around 1900, the original piece was purchased by Queen Mary, the wife of King George V, in 1934.
This piece is a wonderfully naturalistic model of bleeding heart flowers, built from a stunning array of precious materials: gold, silver-gilt, nephrite jade, and the minerals rhodonite and quartzite. The flower stems are mounted into a silver gilt vase, and the leaves are beautifully crafted from green nephrite jade, while the flower heads are made from rhodonite and quartzite.
This exceptional flower model was retailed by the American jeweller Tiffany & Co, and it bears a retailer’s stamp on the underside which reads ‘Tiffany & Co / Makers / Sterling / 24036’.
