An exquisite oil on canvas portrait of a noble lady in a state dress. 
Circle of Maria Giovanna Clementi (Piedmontese 1692–1761).

We love the freshness of this beautiful portrait; the artist’s exquisite treatment of velvet, fur and, particularly, lace.

While the identities of neither the sitter nor of the artist are known, this portrait, possibly intended as a wedding gift, is wonderfully decorative and pleasing to look at, evoking the elegance and grandeur of the 18th century, the golden age of the arts.
