Object Description

This fine armorial and crested George III silver tobacco box was made in London in 1768 by William Plummer and measures almost 4 inches in length by 3 inches wide by 1 1/8 inches deep. It id beautifully engraved to the pull off lid with a coat of arms and a crest above, to the underside it bears the initials EJ to FCO in flowing script. It is fully and clearly hallmarked inside the base and under the lid with the lion passant and makers mark. A lovely box copying a Charles II box in excellent condition and weighing 4 ounces or 124 grams.
