Antique Shirvan rugs are one of the most sought-after pieces from the Caucasus. They are highly decorative rugs with a formality and stylistic complexity that sets them apart from other rugs from the region.
A charming C. 1880 Shirvan rug with a bold graphic drawing in relation to its format. The ivory background provides great contrast to the array of natural dyed colours which have aged nicely. The field is framed by five individual borders where each drawing is being creatively repeated in different colour composition.
This antique Shirvan rug is in well preserved condition for every day use. It had still retained its five attractive borders on four sides.
A unique work of art that would be a fabulous addition to a variety of settings.
