Top quality late Georgian mahogany breakfront wardrobe by GILLOWS. Although this example is not stamped definitely by Gillows as I have had the exact same model that was stamped Gillows in the past.
Very good original condition throughout, great timber and a lovely original colour and patination.
Standing on typical Gillows design turned legs.
The left hand section is full hanging, the right hand section has a large hat box and adjustable shelves. The middle section has a two over three drawer chest at the bottom with two door cupboard above which has all its original sliding drawers inside. All the drawers are oak lined with original brass locks and turned wooden knob handles.
The piece obviously comes into several sections for moving and is screwed together once in place.
One of the nicest features of this particular example is it proportions, it is lovely and narrow from front to back.
SIZES; 91″ wide by 81″ high. The depth at the ends is 18″ and the depth of the centre section is 20″.
CIRCA; 1825 – 1830
