Object Description

This fine large George III bright cut Scottish silver goblet was made in Edinburgh in 1795 by Alexander Spence and measures 7 1/8 inches tall by 4 inches in dia across the top and 3 5/8 inches across the octagonal base. It has a lovely bright cut border around the top of vine leaves and grapes, a further band around the round foot and prick engraving around the octagonal foot. It has a three ring band to the stem and there are 2 vacant cartouches either side with swags around a circular central cartouche. It is fully and clearly hallmarked to the foot, gilded to the interior and is in excellent condition weighing 9.35 ounces or 293 grams.
