Object Description

This fine octagonal George I silver coffee pot was made in London in 1723 by Edward Vincent and measures 9.75 inches tall by almost 9 inches handle to spout and is 4.5 inches in dia across the base. It has a stepped border around the base leading into a plain octagonal body that has a cast octagonal spout with a petal design to the bottom where it attaches to the body, the carved and scrolled fruit wood handle is attached at both top and base with a plain octagonal ferrule and the plain octagonal hinged lid has an octagonal pear shaped finial. It is fully and clearly hallmarked to the inside and also on the lid rim with the lion passant and makers mark. A superb pot in excellent condition weighing 25.9 ounces or 802 grams.
