Object Description

This set of 8 superb quality Victorian silver plates were made in London in 1842 by Royal silversmith Robert Garrard, they measures 10 5/8 inches in dia and have a beautiful large shaped and scrolled border with acanthus leaf detailing and matte engraving, below this is more engraving of scrolling acanthus leaves and an Earls coronet bearing the double cypher initial R. They are fully and clearly hallmarked to the backs and stamped Garrards Panton Street London and are of the quality expected from this maker and the condition is very good and they weigh 172 ounces or 5344 grams, a fine set of plates.
