A fine two-tier marquetry coffee table, of exquisite Sheraton design and exceptional colour and patination.

Why we love it
Its slender design, superb craftsmanship and exceptional colour are really outstanding and highly unusual for the period when it was made. The original surfaces have mellowed to a most pleasing, warm colour, and its exquisitely engraved marquetry looks and feels as stunning as Georgian.

Object History

An identical piece labeled ‘S & H Jewel, 29, 30, 31 Little Queen St, Holborn W.C.’ was in London art market in 2018. S & H Jewel were based in London and were recorded as quality cabinet-markers from 1830-1894.
