Flamboyantly carved giltwood mirror, Portugal, 18th century circa 1780

Object Description

An imposing giltwood mirror carved and pierced with exuberant scrolls, acanthus leaves and flower heads, the integral crest carved as a scallop shell containing a stylised acanthus leaf. Portugal, late 18th century, circa 1780

Object Condition

The crest has been broken and repaired, some repairs to the extremities and the gilding refreshed in places. Later mirror plate.
