A Franco-Flemish tapestry panel, first half of the 16th century. Woven in silk and wool with figures representing the three persons of the Trinity above a female saint holding a clock, and, below, four fallen horses and further figures. A fragment of a scroll bearing the incomplete word ‘Etern…’ to the upper right hand corner. The iconography of the present tapestry may be compared to that of the ‘Triumphs of Petrarch’, ‘Los Honores’ and ‘Triumph of the Seven Virtues’ sets woven in the first third of the 16th century, and the style to the slightly later secondary weavings of these sets. 11’0½” (336cm) high and 6’8¼” (203.5cm) wide.
