Object Description
A superb 1960’s silver box made by renowned Italian silversmith Fratelli Cacchione of Milan. Stamped with the maker’s initials, F.C. and makers number 39M. This mark for Fratelli Cacchione was used from 1949 – 1970. Also marked with the English oval 925 import silver purity mark and the English ‘Leo’ constellation (lion) import mark which was introduced for imported silver post 1906. With beautiful engraved diagonal crossed line pattern to each of the visible sides of the box. Amazing gauge of silver used; fantastic quality!
Founded in 1889 by Ciro Cacchione, they moved from Florence to Milan in 1933. Fratelli Cacchione are a dynasty of five generations of silversmiths still ongoing today. In the past they have worked for exclusive jewellers such as Tiffany, Cartier, Asprey, Harry Winston and Bedetti of Rome and collaborated to make all sorts of different silver ware.
