This pair of gilt bronze fireplace chenets are connected by a long, shaped piece of gilt bronze, which is mounted as its centre point with a gilt bronze bunch of flowers. Each chenet terminates in a floral spray, also of gilt bronze, beside which reclines a nude figure. One figure, a male, glances over his shoulder towards us; the other, a female, raises her head proudly. Both are distinctly Classical in nature, drawing inspiration from Renaissance sculpture.
The pair of chenets and connecting structure are individual components, and the length of the piece can be adjusted accordingly to suit the desired fireplace. The longest length of the group is 152cm, while the shortest is 114cm.
