Object Description

French marble clock standing on a raised plinth and resting on gilded Toupe feet with ormolu mounts surmounted by a gilded ormolu figure reading.

Gilded chased bezel with bevelled convex glass opening to an enamel dial with Roman numerals signed Legout, Paris.

Eight day movement striking the hours and halves on a silvered bell. C.1860

‘Watchmakers and clockmakers of the world’ by Brian Loomes lists Legout as working from Avenue De Vichy during the late nineteenth century.
