Object Description
Important English furniture- George II burr walnut chest of drawers circa 1740-1750. This chest combines the very finest burr walnut veneers with the finest cabinetwork of the period. The rectangular quarter veneered top has applied cross-grain moulded edge, cross banding and a fine feather banding. To the front of the chest a retractable cockbeaded brushing slide with original ring pull handles, over four long graduated, oak lined, cockbeaded drawers, retaining there original locks (in perfect working order), each veneered in four matched segments of veneer and fitted with period gilt brass open plate handles. Beneath the bottom drawer a further cross-grain moulding, supported on all four of its original shaped bracket feet, veneered in burr to the front.
