Object Description
A large antique sterling silver bowl of plain, circular form on a spreading foot. Unusually good size for this period and suitable for bread, fruit and flowers. Excellent quality and good gauge silver. Hand engraved to the front is an armorial within a large decorative cartouche.
Weight 1367 grams, 43.9 troy ounces.

Joseph (Jos) Sanders, London silversmith, probably younger brother of John Sanders I. Apprenticed to Thomas Ewesdin 1714, turned over to Joseph Belcher 1714, free 1721/22. Livery 1727/28. 1st mark enetered as largeworker 1730 at Carey Lane. 2nd mark 1739 at 1739. Resigned from Livery 1748.
