A charming little antique silver feeding bowl with the plain styling typical for this period. Suitable as a small sauceboat.

Literature. The antique silver pap boat was originally used as a shallow feeding dish for a child or invalid. These appeared circa 1710 and fell out of manufacture about 120 years later. With their smooth elegant shape, they make ideal servers for sauce.

William Garrard, London silversmith, apprenticed to Samuel Laundry 1729, turned over to Jeffery Griffith 1732, then later that year to Ralph Maidman. Freedom unrecorded. Mark entered as largeworker 1735. 2nd mark 1739, 3rd mark 1749.
