Object Description
A good antique silver lidded tankard with domed lid. Lovely plain design with simple straight sides, the body with a concentric reed ring to the base of the handle. The hand engraved armorial has a crest and motto “Stabilis in Fide”. Owners initials to the top of the handle.

Marks. Stamped with a fully matching and clear set of English silver marks to the body and lid, handle with maker’s mark.
Richard Gosling, apprenticed to Matthew Cuthbert 1712, free 1719. 1st mark as smallworker 1733, 2nd mark as largeworker 1739, 3rd mark 1748.
