Object Description

A handsome antique sterling silver mug of baluster form with scroll handle. Classic plain style. With a hand engraved monogram to the front with intertwined initials in old script. Contains 400 ml. Weight 297 grams, 9.5 troy ounces. Height 11.7 cms. Diameter 7.5 cms (top), 8.5 cms (base). London 1765. Maker John Robinson II.

Biography – John Robinson II, London silversmith, possibly the John Robinson apprenticed to Thomas Bailey 1727. 1st mark entered as largeworker 1738. 2nd mark 1739.

Object Condition

This useful drinking mug is in very good condition with no damage or restoration. Good colour. The engraving is crisp. With a full and clear set of English silver hallmarks.
