Object Description

An elegant antique sterling silver salver. Classic plain style with swept feet and reed border. To the front there is a hand engraved armorial with a bird crest. Weight 1433 grams, 46 troy ounces. Diameter 36 cms. Height 4 cms. London 1789. Maker Henry Chawner.

Henry Chawner, free of Goldsmiths Company by patrimony. 1st mark (2 sizes) entered as plateworker 1786. 2nd mark (2 sizes) 1787. Married the daughter and heiress of Edward Hore in 1791, Livery 1791. 3rd mark as partner with John Emes 1796. Elected to Court of Assistants 1801. Died 1851.

Object Condition

This pretty tray is in very good condition with no damage or restoration. Stamped on the reverse with a full set of clear English silver hallmarks. Please note that this item is not new and will show moderate signs of wear commensurate with age. Reflections in the photograph may detract from the true representation of this item.
