Object Description
This George III silver and tortoiseshell tobacco box was made C1780 and as usual is unmarked, it measures 4 1/8 inches in length by 3 3/8 inches wide and is 1 inch deep, it has an oval silver cartouche to the lid bearing the initials SL in flowing script and has a stand away hinged to the back of the box and also silver sides, the lid has a lovely wavy design in the shell and the box is in good condition (the base has a fault to the shell, inside but it appears to be natural and not visible from the underside)
