Object Description
A pretty pair of antique sterling silver coasters with pierced gallery and gadroon borders. Very charming small size. There is an engraved crest to the front of each. With turned hardwood bases and black ebony centre buttons. Diameter 11.75 cms. Height 3.5 cms. London 1770. Maker Edward Lowe.
Biography – Edward Lowe, London silversmith, no record of apprenticeship or freedom. 1st mark entered as smallworker 1760. 2nd mark 1769. 3rd mark 1770. 4th mark 1771. 5th mark as plateworker 1777.
