Object Description

A pretty pair of antique sterling silver coasters with pierced decorative gallery and gadroon borders. There is an engraved crest to the front of each. With turned hardwood bases. Diameter 11.75 cms. Height 3.5 cms. London 1771. Maker probably Thomas Nash.

Biography – Thomas Nash, London silversmith, no record of apprenticeship or freedom. 1st mark entered 1759. 2nd as smallworker 1759. 3rd mark 1767. 4th mark 1767. 5th mark 1770. 6th and 7th marks as bucklemaker 1773. 8th mark 1776.

Object Condition

These silver coasters are in very good condition, with no damage or restoration. Each has a full set of English hall marks, clear and matching, stamped on the wires. Original turned hard wood bases (one has a split ).
Please note that this item is not new and will show moderate signs of wear commensurate with age. Reflections in the photograph may detract from the true representation of this item.
