Object Description

Circa 1830. A quality George IV rosewood library table, with the maker’s name (Mackie, 2 possible makers of that name, see below) stamped in three locations. The top in well figured rosewood, with rounded fore-edge and corners, a full length narrow drawer in the frieze with carving on the facing including small heraldic shields. The drawer is the full width of the library table, with stylish carved and scrolling brackets to each end, the back of the table has a faux drawer with similar carving. The table rests on a pair of stylish pierced trestle ends with moulded fore edge, sitting on a raised platform base with a small arch in the center and resting on four stout tapering feet. The table has excellent colour throughout.
