Object Description

A truly magnificent and highly collectable silver gilt cup and cover made by the highly renowned silversmith Benjamin Smith. The body is finely decorated with lower ‘stiff leafage’ embellishments and applied upper grape and vine castings for highlights. The centre front has stylish horse racing scenes which is surrounded with elegant presentation engraving. The centre back has additional presentation engravings of the highly collectable masonic connotations.

Width: 11 inches/28cm (back of handle to back of opposite handle)

Diameter: 9 inches/23cm

Condition: Excellent throughout

Note: Both inscriptions are later, but this does not detract from the cups importance/value.
