Object Description

An Attractive George III Period 18th Century
Mahogany Octagonal Shaped Tea Caddy Having
Banded And Strung Decoration And Lidded
Interior With Two Divisions With Fully Working
Lock And Key

(Tea was of exceptional value in the 18th century
and the type of tea you could afford, plus of course
the vessels you chose to store it in were a great symbol
of status. Tea caddies were of course used to both
preserve the tea leaves bit also to lock it away from the
potentially wandering hands of any employees. This is a
good quality example of its type, constructed from well
figured mahogany with elegant decoration. The overall
condition is good and it comes with a fully functioningl
lock and key)
