(A fine example of a functional and elegant Georgian bureau bookcase this piece
has been constructed from excellent quality mahogany. A lot of effort has gone
into maintaining as much elegance as possible with the various forms of decoration
used for the cornice and the elegant astragal glazing to the doors. The shelves within
the top are adjustable allowing for a variety of item sizes to be contained within. The
superbly figured sloping fall encloses a most attractive interior which would originally
have been designed for somebody to use as a temporary desk before folding the fall
back up to enclose any messy papers etc if required. The oval plate handles are
replacements, but they are old and sit most comfortably on the piece. The elegant
bracket feet are original)
