Object Description

A Very Good Quality George II Period Mahogany Dressing
Table Mirror Having Shaped Mirror Plate Enclosed Within
Gilded Slip To Shaped Frame Above Well Figured Base
And Three Drawers With Original Shaped Bracket Feet

(Dressing table mirrors, often referred to as “toilet mirrors”
were made from the the beginning of the 18th century onwards.
Designed to sit atop a dressing table, or chest of drawers, in the
bedroom or dressing room they are found in a huge variety of
sizes, woods, shapes, sizes and qualities. This particular example
retains a good rich colour & patina, and of course although it was
originally designed to sit on top of a dressing table it is of actually
most versatile of course and would suit a whole variety of locations
around the home. The mirror plate itself is replaced, but not brand
new, meaning there are a few old marks, but it is very much functional
for its original purpose as a dressing table mirror.)
