Georgian Beer Jug

Object Description

A large antique sterling silver jug with graceful curved shape and plain design. With half fluted ribbing and impressive leaf decorated handle. Excellent weight and good gauge silver. There is an inscription inside the base rim “Presented to Mrs Henry Kermit by Robert Kermit on his return from England 1825”. Weight 1394 grams, 44.8 troy ounces. Height 30 cms. Spread 20.5 cms. Contains 1700 ml. London 1824. Maker Robert Hennell II.

Object Condition

This impressive jug is in excellent condition with no damage or restoration. The lid and body both have matching English silver marks. There are also 2 French silver marks on the lid which indicate that the jug was taken out the country for some time.
