Object Description
A late 18th to early 19th century Georgian Scottish mahogany stick barometer and thermometer.
The barometer has a mahogany case the front of which is herring bone veneered either side of the glass tube.
The barometer has a half round mahogany cistern cover at the base that has chequered inlay to the centre.
The barometer has a silverised register dial that is engraved ‘D Stampa & Co. No 14 Leith Street Edinburgh’ and holds an alcohol thermometer.
The dial has a glazed mahogany framed door that hinges open.
The top of the barometer is decorated with a broken architectural pediment with a small brass urn in the centre.
The barometer is in good working condition. (Circa 1800)
