Object Description
This elegantly proportioned antique partners library table is stamp marked ‘Gillow’ and is made from quarter cut, well figured oak.
The frieze is fitted with three drawers to the front and back. All drawers have mahogany drawer linings, hand cut dovetail joints, original brass locks, stamped ‘VR’ and ebonies turned wooden knobs.
The table stands on four turned and reeded legs terminating in the original brass and ceramic castors.
This well proportioned, handsome antique partners library table is in excellent condition. It has benefitted from traditional restoration which includes, french polishing and a new black hide leather writing surface. The leather has blind and gilt tooling and is surrounded by a band of oak and a thumb moulded edge and rounded corners.
