Object Description

This good armorial and crested George III silver coffee pot was made in London in 1773 by William Grundy and measures 11 inches tall by 9 3/8 inches handle to spout and is 4 3/8 inches across the base. It has a coat of arms with a crest above to the front with a cast swan necked spout with fluting, scrolled leaf and graduated drop detailing, a fruit wood handle having shell and scrolled ferrules and a hinged, domed lid with a wrythen finial. It has a large gadrooned band around the foot and is fully and clearly hallmarked under the base and also to the lid rim with the lion passant and the makers mark. A very nice quality pot in good condition weighing 28.70 ounces or 892 grams.
