Object Description

This very nice Elizabeth I silver seal top spoon was made in London in 1597, the makers mark being a crescent enclosing a mullet (Jacksons page 102 found on spoons) and measures 6 11/16 inches long, it is marked to the back of the stem with the makers mark, date letter and lion passant and to the bowl with the leopards head and the crest of a stag engraved below, the seal top is gilded and the seal itself is well defined and very sharp considering it’s great age. The bowl is well formed with no obvious signs of wear and it is in very good condition weighing 1.45 ounces or 45 grams.
