Object Description

This very nice armorial George III silver coffee pot was made in London in 1773 by Charles Wright and measures 11 inches tall by 8.5 inches handle to spout and is 4 3/8 inches in dia across the base. It has a large coat of arms to the front within a florid cartouche and a cast swan necked spout with fluting, scrolled leaf and graduated drop detailing whilst the fruit wood handle is held in place with scrolled and shell designed ferrules. The domed, hinged lid has a wrythen finial and it is fully and clearly hallmarked under the base along with the engraved initials RW MW MS 1775 and also the the lid rim with the lion passant. A super pot in lovely condition weighing 25.55 ounces or 796 grams.
