Object Description

This large and very good quality George II silver castor was made in London in 1736 by Samuel Wood and measures almost 7.75 inches tall by 2.5 inches at its widest and is 2 5/16 inches across the base. The castor is free from embellishments and has a pull off top that is well pierced and engraved and it is fully and clearly hallmarked under the base and to the top rim with the lion passant and is in very good condition weighing 7.65 ounces or 238 grams.
