Object Description
This nice quality pair of crested octagonal George I silver castors were made C1725 by Richard Watts (who was entered 24/06/1720) and measure 6.75 inches tall by 2.5 inches wide and are 2 1/8 inches in dia across the base, they are hallmarked under the bases with the makers mark only struck 4 times – 2 of which have been hammered out on each castor and they are also marked with the makers mark 4 times to one lid and three times to the other, they have a lovely crest to the front of deer standing below a branch, a nice pair of castors in good condition (one small piece missing in the piercing) weighing 14.05 ounces or 437 grams.
