Object Description

This super quality George II silver straight sided coffee pot was made in London in 1738 by Thomas Mason and measures 8.75 inches tall by 7.25 inches handle to spout and is 4 inches in dia across the base. It has a skirted base with a plain body with a cast swan neck spout that is fluted with a reeded band half way leading up to an acanthus leaf above the spout, the cast ferrule to the top of the fruit wood handle is scrolled and shell whilst the bottom one has graduated drop detailing, the lid is hinged with a plain finial and is marked inside with the lion passant and it is fully and clearly hallmarked under the base. A very nice pot in lovely condition weighing 21.95 ounces or 683 grams.
