Object Description
Group of three framed sets of Italian Classical gilt intaglio molds
Italian, Late 19th/Early 20th Century
Height 38cm, width 55.5cm, depth 5cm
With each piece depicting a varied scene of classical imagery or scene from Classical mythology, these fine intaglios, similar in style and purpose for works made for the Grand Tour audience, are a set of Italian works dating to around the turn of the twentieth century.
Each set within a gilt surround, and several with hand painted inventory numbers, the delicate and exquisite miniatures show a variety of Classical Roman emperors and generals; gods and goddesses, and very fine scenes from myth, and are collectively mounted on peach silk, and set within a later composite frame.
