This elegant wool rug is a Persian Balouch rug, woven by hand in the 1880s. The central design has been woven in a brown background with a highly decorative medallion design constructed with accents of red and blue. This has then been framed by a layered repeat pattern border.

The Baloch or Baluch are Iranian people who live mainly in the Balochistan region, located at the southeasternmost edge of the Iranian plateau. This piece has been woven with the finest organic materials including hand-spun wool and cotton. This has been dyed with organic vegetable dyeing techniques, used for generations.
This fine wool carpet is in excellent condition, clean and ready for use.
