Object History

Shiraz carpets are a type of Persian rug made originally constructed in villages around the city of Shiraz, in the Iranian province of Fars. Designs traditionally come from settled tribal weavers so they mimic Qashqai, Afshar and Lori designs.
Constructed with hand-spun wool and cotton, densely hand-knotted which creates the fine wool pile in this piece. The rich colours come from natural dyeing techniques, which have been used for generations. This fine wool rug is sure to last for generations if cleaned and cared for correctly.
