Object Description
Chinese 17th century Kraak deep Charger from the Hatcher Cargo.
Painted to the centre with a bird perched on rockwork with insects flying around. Painted with peonies and encircled by a shaped border filled with various designs.
The sides are painted with panels of ) peaches and flowers separated by narrow panels.
The hatcher cargo is so called as it was salvaged by Michael Hatcher having originally sunk c1642. It had been a vessel called the Witte Leeuw and was carrying porcelain for the Dutch East India Company that had been made at Jingdezhen.
