Bears inscription verso “Her wars are ended – Early study by Samuel Prout – to Henry Acland
John Ruskin, 12th May 1883”

Object Literature

Samuel Prout secured the position of Painter in Watercolours in Ordinary to both George IV and Queen Victoria. This study of a beached and neglected warship almost certainly depicts HMS Victory.

Object Condition

An exquisite painting in excellent condition.
