Object Description
A late 19th century heraldic stained glass roundel depicting the Coat of Arms of Prince Arthur, Duke of Connaught. Born in 1850, Prince Arthur was the third son of Queen Victoria. In 1874, HRH issued Prince Arthur with the title of Duke of Connaught and Strathearn. He held the title until his death in 1942.
This small stained glass roundel depicts the Duke of Connaught’s crest used from 1874-1917 and as such, it likely dates from this period. Originating from England, it may have once been part of a larger heraldic window perhaps in a castle or royal residence and today can be used as a historical feature of British history.
We are also selling two other stained glass roundels of a similar size originating from the same location and time period: one with the Coat of Arms of the Prince of Wales and another with the Hanoverian Crest.
