Object Description

A late 19th century heraldic stained glass roundel depicting the Hanoverian family Coat of Arms, circa 1880.

The House of Hanover has existed for over 300 years and forms a substantial part of British royal history. From 1714 to 1901, the Hanoverian reign saw six monarchs including George III, who ruled for 60 years and remains Britain’s longest reigning king. Queen Victoria was the final of the Hanoverian monarchs, ruling from 1837 until 1901. This small stained glass roundel dates from Queen Victoria’s reign, depicting the crest of the House of Hanover.

Originating from England, it may have once been part of a larger heraldic window perhaps in a castle or royal residence and today can be used as a historical feature of British history.

We are also selling two other stained glass roundels of a similar size originating from the same location and time period: one with the Coat of Arms of the Prince of Wales and another with the Coat of Arms of the Duke of Connaught. Please enquire for details.
