Herbert Walter Oake (1881-1939) was a painter known in Scotland for his landscapes, figural subjects, coastal scenes and still lifes in oils. He was born in Bebington, Cheshire and taught art at Edinburgh College of Art. He exhibited at the Royal Academy and at the Royal Scottish Academy 1922-1931. He died in Edinburgh in 1939.
