Object Description

A finely moulded Holy Land terracotta jug which features a conical, pyriform, body and gradually tapering into a flared neck with smooth, sloping walls. It has a wide mouth with an everted rim. A vertical handle is attached to one side of the vessel, bridging the neck and the body. The body rises from a delicate, short ring base.

Date: Circa 3rd-1st Millennium BC

Object History

From an important collection of Holy Land pottery formed before 1988 by a deceased gentleman, passed by descent to the family.

Object Condition

Fine condition, with minor chips to the rim and to the peripheral areas of the ring base. Signs of erosion and earthy encrustations remain visible to the surface.
