Object Description

This very large pair of crested super quality, heavy Georgian silver salts were made in London in 1813 by William Bennett and measure 2.75 inches tall by 4 inches in dia at their widest, they are very much high Regency in their style and design and have a gadroon and shell border around the top leading into cast swags of flowers and foliage around the body, they are crested inside one of the swags with an oak tree above an engraved knights helmet and they have large cast lions head masks where the feet attach to the body and they have hairy paw feet on which they stand. They retain their original gilding to the interior and are fully and clearly hallmarked under the base. A magnificent large and superb quality pair of salts to grace any dining table weighing 2405 ounces or 748 grams.
