Italian 17th Century Ivory and gilt copper box

This beautiful casket-form box dates to the early 17th Century and was crafted in Italy. The box is of ivory, with chased and gilt copper strapping throughout. Copper also forms the hinges, the beautiful clasp to the front, and the handle set atop the lid. The piece is beautifully made and is a wonderful example of Italian Renaissance craftsmanship.
