Object Description
Japanese kakiemon 17th century, Edo period deep saucer plate.
Plate with painting to show phoenix, below weeping plum blossom. painted on the famed ‘nigoshide’ body – reknown white body.
The edge has a fine brown line around the eight sided scalloped edge
The weeping plum blossom is not the usual flowers painted on the porcelain, the phoenix is more common . The vibrant enamels are in excellent condition in the decoration as is the body.
